August 15-17th, 1969

“Woodstock Music and Art Festival” – Held at Max Yasgur’s Dairy Farm in Bethel N.Y.

Performers included: Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Joan Baez, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Country Joe & the Fish, Sly and the Family Stone, & Ten Years After.

Also in 1969 David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” debuts
After 8 years Elvis is back performing live in Las Vegas, His songs “In the
Ghetto” and “Suspicious Minds” both go to #1 this year.
April 22nd, 1969 The first complete performance of The Who’s Rock Concert
TOMMY” is performed in Dalton England.
May 10th, 1969 The Turtles perform at the White House. Singer Mark Volman falls off stage 5 times.
June 2nd, 1969 John Lennon and Yoko Ono host a “BED IN” at the Queen
Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal Canada and record “Give Peace a
Chance” … also, staying in the room with them are Tommy
Smothers and Timothy Leary (just to name a couple)
August 9th, 1969 Sharon Tate and guests are murdered by Charles Mason and “his Family.”
October 14th, 1969 Diana Ross and the Supremes release “Some Day We’ll be Together” …The single becomes their final #1, and is also the
final #1 song for the decade Black Sabbath becomes a group in Birmingham, England
